Lying Tricep Extensions

The best muscles mass building exercises for the Triceps are actually heavy bench presses, dips and shoulder press. These provide more stress onto the Triceps muscles due to the amount of weight used in those exercises. However there are many other different Tricep exercises available, and out of all the isolation exercises for the Triceps I believe lying Tricep extensions are the best exercise for developing the arm muscles.

Lying Tricep extensions will help develop Tricep strength which can boost strength for the bench presses and overhead press.

 

How to do Lying Tricep Extensions:

Lyee down on a secure weights bench and have a training partner pass the barbell. Grasp the barbell with an overhand grip, hands should be 2-8 inches apart. The arms should be locked out directly over the chest, with the bar straight ahead of your chin. While the upper arms remain stationary lower the bar by bending at the elbows until the bar reaches your forehead. Power the weight up by extending the arms. The elbows should still be pointing upwards during the whole movement.

Breathing technique for the Lying Tricep Extensions.

Exhale as the Barbell is pressed or the arms straightened, then inhale as the Barbell is lowered.

Lying Tricep Extension exercise tips:

When doing lying Tricep extensions always have a training partner at hand to pass the bar and stay ready if your arms cannot manage to perform the required number of reps.

Try using a light weight until you feel comfortable then increase the poundage gradually over the course of several workouts.

Never bounce or jerk the weight down, use a strict form and slow motion.

Make sure the Triceps are fully warmed up before performing lying Tricep extensions.
