Good nutrition is important in any sport, for muscle building however, it is crucial. Many top bodybuilders claim that successful muscular growth is around 50% training and 50% diet. Nutrition is essentially the building blocks for muscles so if you provide it with poor quality building materials the end result will be a poor structure.

The same principle applies to the energy systems in that a supply of poor fuel will result in less effective performance. A poor workout equals less muscle growth stimulation. Everything you eat affects the body, it’s all interrelated and stems from a sound nutritional practice. You truly are what you eat so make sure you are the best you can be by providing your body with good muscle building nutrition.


What actually is good nutrition?

What I’m actually referring to when I say good nutrition for building muscle is:

Drinking clean water regularly
Provision of high quality protein regularly throughout the day and in adequate quantities in each meal
Provides an effective ratio of all the macronutrients - carbohydrates, protein and fats, a 55 – 25 – 20 percent ratio respectively.
Consumption of mostly low G.I. foods
Consuming healthy, natural and wholesome foods which are generally low in sodium
Provision of sufficient energy to maintain growth
Adequate nutrient combinations, providing all necessary nutrients in correct amounts
Supplying essential fatty acids in sensible quantities.


What are the benefits of good muscle building nutrition?
