Muscle recovery for fast muscular growth

The muscle recovery phase is crucial in order to build muscle fast. Full muscle recovery is complete when all cells are restored back to their original state before the previous workout. Muscles can only grow after full recovery has taken place.

Attempting to train muscles before full recovery has taken place will only slow or halt progress, it may even result in a net loss of muscle mass as the body will metabolize more protein in order to meet unfulfilled energy needs - remember our energy needs always come first!

As you may now be aware muscle building requires the need to train harder at each workout. However training harder results in a faster breakdown of muscles, so the recovery phase will now take longer. It means as each muscle becomes stronger you must reduce the frequency of heavy training to promote full recovery and growth.

Everyone has different rates of muscle recovery for which most can be attributed to genetic factors. Some people can build muscle by training hard almost every day yet some can only train a muscle group intensely every 5 days. We are all genetically different however there are ways to speed the muscle recovery process.

Eight ways to speed muscle recovery!

  • stretch everyday but especially before and after training

  • spend 5 minutes daily completing very light movements to increase blood supply to tight muscles

  • get 8 hours of undisturbed sleep every night

  • diet full of highly nutritious foods

  • provide high quality protein at each meal

  • provide enough daily energy to support growth (anabolism)

  • Do not train heavy for long periods

  • maintain a tranquil mind at all times
